I first met Lindsey Buckingham in 1967, when we were both playing in a band called Chicken Shack. We were both young and ambitious, and we quickly bonded over our shared love of music. We started writing songs together, and soon we were a couple. In 1970, we left Chicken Shack and formed our own band, Fleetwood Mac.
Fleetwood Mac was an instant success. Our first album, "Fleetwood Mac," was a commercial and critical success, and we quickly became one of the most popular bands in the world. We toured constantly, and we sold millions of records. But behind the scenes, things were not always as rosy as they seemed.
Lindsey and I had a very intense relationship. We were both passionate and creative, but we were also very different. Lindsey could be moody and possessive, and he often had a hard time dealing with his success. I, on the other hand, was more laid-back and easygoing. I just wanted to make music and be happy.
Our relationship began to unravel in the early 1980s. Lindsey was becoming increasingly difficult to work with, and he was starting to drink heavily. I tried to help him, but he refused to listen. In 1982, he was fired from Fleetwood Mac.
I was devastated by Lindsey's departure. I felt like I had lost my musical soulmate. But I knew that I had to move on. I continued to write and record music with Fleetwood Mac, and I eventually found happiness again with another man.
In 1997, Lindsey and I were reunited for a Fleetwood Mac reunion tour. It was a strange experience. We had both changed a lot over the years, and our relationship was never quite the same. But we still had a lot of love and respect for each other, and we were able to put our differences aside and make some great music together.
Lindsey and I have been through a lot together. We've had our ups and downs, but we've always managed to come through it. We're still friends today, and I'm grateful for the music that we've made together. Fleetwood Mac has been my life for over 50 years, and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
