Activism Ignites: A Tireless Champion for the Environment

In the early 1970s, a pivotal moment occurred that would forever shape the course of Audrey Peterman's life. The publication of Rachel Carson's groundbreaking book, Silent Spring, sent shockwaves through the world, exposing the devastating impact of pesticides on the environment. Inspired by Carson's call to action, Audrey joined forces with like-minded individuals to establish the Chippewa Valley Environmental Council (CVEC).

As President of CVEC, Audrey became a vocal advocate for environmental protection in her community and beyond. She organized grassroots campaigns, spearheaded educational initiatives, and lobbied decision-makers on critical environmental issues. Her passion and determination quickly garnered attention, and she soon found herself at the forefront of the burgeoning environmental movement.
