What Shakespeare and 10 Kids Gave Me That Hollywood Couldn't
I never thought I'd find myself teaching Shakespeare to a group of 10 kids. But then again, I never thought I'd be a stay-at-home mom, either. Life has a funny way of throwing you curveballs.
After spending years working in the fast-paced, high-stakes world of Hollywood, I found myself at a crossroads. I had achieved some success as a screenwriter, but it came at a cost. I was constantly stressed, overworked, and disconnected from the things that truly mattered to me.

When I became a mother, I knew I needed to make a change. I wanted to be present for my children, to watch them grow and learn and explore the world around them. But I also knew that I couldn't give up on my dreams. I loved writing, and I couldn't imagine my life without it.
So I started looking for ways to combine my two passions: writing and motherhood. That's how I found myself teaching Shakespeare to a group of 10 kids at my local library.
At first, I was terrified. I had never taught before, and I didn't know if I could handle a group of 10 energetic kids. But I quickly realized that these kids were just like me: they were curious, creative, and full of potential.
We started with the basics: the plays, the characters, the language. But it wasn't long before we were delving into the deeper themes of Shakespeare's work: love, loss, betrayal, and redemption.
The kids were fascinated by these stories, and they couldn't wait to share their own thoughts and interpretations. They asked me questions that I had never considered before, and they challenged me to think about Shakespeare's work in new ways.
But it wasn't just the kids who were learning. I was learning from them, too. I was learning about the power of imagination, the importance of play, and the value of human connection.
I had always thought of Shakespeare as a dusty old playwright, irrelevant to my modern life. But through teaching these kids, I realized that his work was just as relevant today as it was when it was first written.
Shakespeare's plays are about the human condition. They explore the universal themes of love, loss, betrayal, and redemption. And they do so in a way that is both beautiful and profound.
I believe that Shakespeare's work has the power to change lives. It can open our eyes to the beauty of the world around us, and it can help us to understand ourselves and others better.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to have taught Shakespeare to these 10 kids. They have taught me so much about life, creativity, and the value of human connection.
And I know that they will carry the lessons they have learned from Shakespeare with them for the rest of their lives.
