Leap Days: Chronicles of a Midlife Move
A Leap Day is an extra day added to the calendar every four years to keep the calendar in sync with the Earth's orbit around the sun. For some, it's just an extra day off, but for others, it can be a time of reflection and introspection.

This year, Leap Day falls on a Saturday, which gives us an opportunity to take a step back from our busy lives and reflect on where we are and where we're going. For me, this Leap Day is particularly meaningful, as it marks the one-year anniversary of my midlife move.
I moved from the hustle and bustle of New York City to the quiet tranquility of the Hudson Valley. It was a big change, but it was one that I felt was necessary. I had been feeling restless and unfulfilled in my life, and I knew that I needed to make a change.
The move was a leap of faith, but it was also a leap of joy. I am so grateful for the opportunity to start fresh in a new place. I have met wonderful people, I have found a new sense of purpose, and I have rediscovered my love of life.
Of course, there have been challenges along the way. Moving to a new place is never easy, and there have been times when I have felt lonely and overwhelmed. But I have also learned a lot about myself and my resilience.
I've learned that I am stronger than I thought I was. I've learned that I can handle anything that life throws my way. And I've learned that it's never too late to make a change.
This Leap Day, I am celebrating my new life in the Hudson Valley. I am grateful for the journey that has brought me here, and I am excited for what the future holds.
If you are thinking about making a change in your life, I encourage you to take the leap. It may be scary, but it could also be the best thing you ever do.
Here are a few things to keep in mind if you are considering a midlife move:
- Do your research. Before you make any decisions, take the time to research different locations and find a place that is a good fit for you.
- Make a plan. Moving is a big undertaking, so it's important to have a plan in place before you start. This includes figuring out your budget, finding a place to live, and packing your belongings.
- Be prepared for challenges. Moving is not always easy, and there will likely be some challenges along the way. But if you are prepared for them, you will be better able to handle them.
- Be patient. It takes time to settle into a new place. Don't get discouraged if you don't feel at home right away. Just give it time, and eventually you will find your place.
I hope that my story has inspired you to take a leap of faith and make a change in your life. Remember, it's never too late to start fresh.
